HDMI Ethernet Channel

The new specification adds a data channel to the HDMI cable and allow two-way communication at high speed. The connection of devices that support this feature will establish a 100 megabit Ethernet communications and the possible operation of applications IPbased. The new feature also allows the sharing of content and share access to the Internet through devices that support this feature.

Audio Return Channel

The presence of an audio return channel allows to reduce the number of cables required for sending audio upstream for processing and playback. In the event that, for example, a high-definition TV is receiving audio and video content, this new Audio Return Channel allows the TV to send the audio stream directly to the A / V receiver via the HDMI cable, eliminating thus the need to use an additional cable.

3D Over HDMI

The new HDMI specification will also define the resolutions and three-dimensional formats for HDMI compatible devices. The aim is to standardize the input / output of the three-dimensional entertainment systems and will establish specifications for dual-stream 1080p resolution.

4K x 2K Resolution Support

In the new specification it is including support HDMI for high-definition resolutions four times higher than 1080p. Support for 4K x 2K will allow the HDMI interface to transmit content at the same resolution of many digital cinemas. Supported formats include 3840x2160 at 24Hz / 25Hz / 30Hz and 4096x2160 at 24Hz.

Expanded Support For Color Spaces

The technology will now support HDMI color spaces designed specifically for digital cameras. By supporting sYCC601, Adobe RGB and AdobeYCC601, TVs and monitors HDMI will be able to show a more accurate color reproduction of digital photos.
